President Viktor Yanukovych wants to urgently meet with Ukrainian Council of Churches

An unscheduled meeting of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych with the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations is appointed on Wednesday, March 21.
Representatives of denominations informed the Institute for Religious Freedom about the corresponding invitations from the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, which they have received on Monday.
The agenda and time of the meeting is not specified.
During these days was also planned the visit of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) to Brussels, scheduled for March 21-23 since the beginning of the year.
The day before, on March 16, hierarchs of Churches informed about it during a meeting with Vice Prime Minister of UkraineRaisa Bohatyriova and asked Government to support their journey for the purpose to present the positive experience of interdenominational dialogue and understanding in Ukraine to the leaders of European structures.
In Brussels, the UCCRO delegation has planned the meetings with the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC Catherine Ashton, the Vice President of the European Parliament Yatsek Protasevych, the President of the European People's Party Wilfried Martens and with the members of the European Parliament.
